10 Reasons Sleep Problems Can Increase Productivity

Can’t sleep?
I know the feeling. I’ve been fighting sleeping problems for years. For some people solving a sleep problem is a lot like curing poverty, it’s just not gonna happen. With many years of experience in burning the midnight oil, I’ve come up with 10 reasons sleep problems can increase productivity.
10 Reasons Sleep Problems Can Increase Productivity
- The phone just doesn’t ring. That’s funny, is it broke? Nope it seems most people sleep at night so that’s why your phone isn’t ringing off the hook.
- It’s quiet, almost to quiet. No ringing phone almost no noise, unless you live next to a highway or someone is breaking into your car.
- You don’t have to fight for the bathroom. Are there so many people in your house that getting alone time on the throne is like winning the powerball? Stay up late and the bathroom is all yours. Ok I’ll admit that going to the bathroom is not all that productive, but when you can go when nature calls you can get back to work so much quicker.
- You are probably hopped up on coffee. If you don’t drink coffee (shame) then you are tweaking on your favorite caffeinated beverage. If you have had no caffeine then you really do have sleeping problems. You can get things done faster than Cornholio on a hunt for TP for his bunghole. Put on a pot (of coffee) and get to work.
- You don’t have to say, “excuse me” for inadvertent natural gas releases. It you have a happy colon this will happen a least 14 times a day. That’s 4.6 times you don’t have to apologize for crop dusting. Sometimes it just happens, when you are the only one up you don’t really need to light a match either. Everyone likes their own brand.
- Nobody is IMing you, except for that stalker that you filed the VPO on last week.
- Nag nag nag! None of that crap. Your significant other or your parents are asleep. Hell you could invite some friends over (if you have any), but wait that wouldn’t be productive.
Scratch the friends, get some work done. - Why work 8 hours a day when you can work 24 hours? Come on sleep is highly overrated. All those sleeping people are missing out on all the extra hours that they could be writing a book, posting to their myspace page, and surfing for porn. If you can make $100 in 8 hours you can make close to $105 if you stay up.
- No talking. Nobody is asking you questions and nobody is going on and on about how they feel all rested from the wonderful night’s sleep they got in their new Select Comfort™ bed. No one is shouting at you telling you how big of a failure you are (except for that voice in your head.)
- It’s easier to throw things away when the people that will stop you are asleep. Tired of stepping on Hot Wheels® and Legos®? Throw them away and say Santa Clause must have taken them back.
You just thought you had sleep problems, not so my friends. From now on when someone says, “Hey buddy you need to go to sleep.” Look them dead in the eye and say, “Are you crazy, and lose all of that productivity!”
Do you have anymore ways that sleep problems can be beneficial and increase your productivity?
You’re staying up late anyway, why not get give yourself something productive to do. Subscribe to PassionateAmerica.com today (or tonight, whichever the case may be.)

You can keep up with world events (online) in real time.

Well, I could not have read your post had I not been awake at 5:36am (still). Besides, I do not consider it a problem. Why should I sleep at night when it is so peaceful and beautiful? Just because those lazy bums can’t force themselves to stay awake? HA! That’s what I say.

RT - good one I should probably add it to the list.

i clicked on one of your advertisements on this page and these are the tips it suggested. if you follow all of these what the hell are you supposed to do for the six hours leading up till ‘bed time?’
Things to Avoid
Some activities can interfere with sleep — especially if you engage in them too close to bedtime:
Exercise
Avoid exercising within three hours of bedtime. Some people try to tire themselves out by exercising close to bedtime. This tactic can backfire, since exercise actually stimulates the body by speeding up the heart rate and metabolism. There’s a positive flip side: Exercising on a regular basis (during the day, ideally) may help you sleep well at night.
Smoking
Nicotine is a stimulant that can keep you awake. Avoid smoking in the six hours before your bedtime.
Alcohol
Although alcohol may seem to help you fall asleep, it can disrupt your normal sleep pattern during the second half of the night and leave you feeling unrested. It’s best to avoid alcohol before bedtime.
Caffeine
Caffeine can delay your sleep and cause you to wake up during the night. Avoid caffeinated drinks and foods (coffee, tea, cola, chocolate) after noon. You may want to try avoiding caffeine entirely and see if your sleep improves.
Liquids
Avoid drinking fluids before bedtime to decrease the chance of having the urge to go to the bathroom during the night.
Some products that may affect sleep:
Classes of Drugs
Alertness medications

Antidepressants
Arthritis medications
Asthma medications
Blood pressure medications
Cold/allergy medications
Diet pills
If your efforts to avoid common obstacles aren’t improving your sleep, you might want to talk to your healthcare provider about other ways to improve your sleep.
FIAR
But I like sleeping.
