People can and do change their stance on major issues all the time. Some politicians do it for votes (John Kerry and most of the Democrats) while others have a life changing event that causes them to reflect upon their stance on an issue and totally change their view. Most religious people can tell you the exact moment and the events surrounding the exact moment when the accepted Jesus as their savior. This life changing event is what I call a coming to Jesus moment.

I'd love to meet Al Sharpton and have him call me diabolical and a racist. I won't sit there like Don Imus afraid of Sharpton's race pimp posse. The only reason Sharpton is making a big deal about what Imus said is because Imus is white. Hey Al, newsflash, racism happens to all races.
