Congress Using Mental Health Bill To Loot Companies
The looters are at it again. It’s not enough that they have practically bankrupted to auto industry. Now they are stealing everything they can in the name of mental health.
A bill that would require health insurers to cover more of the costs of treating mental health conditions moved forward in Congress on Wednesday with wide backing from employers and insurers.
The Mental Health Parity Act of 2007 cleared the Senate’s Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and now goes to the full Senate for a vote. (link)
I highlighted the part “with wide backing from employers” because it is a complete lie. I don’t know one employer that likes to have his pocket picked.
The bipartisan bill includes a small business exemption for companies with fewer than 50 employees.
Why do companies with fewer than 50 employees get an exemption? Because they just want to punish those evil rich corporations and encourage no business to have more than 50 employees.
“This bill closes longstanding gaps in law that limit people’s access to needed mental health care,” said Pamela Greenberg, chairwoman of The Coalition for Fairness in Mental Illness Coverage.
The Coalition for Fairness in Mental Illness Coverage sure is a fancy name for mafia. Who limits people’s access to needed mental health care? Only the people themselves and laws like this. Explain to me how stealing from businesses and calling it law helps anyone’s metal health.
Brit and Grit have an interesting take on this insane mental health bill.
However, underneath the feel good surface lurks a sneaky plan to drive health care costs high enough that the average person can’t afford it, forcing the kind and good hearted Government to take over and protect the innocent, but not too bright, general public.
You do know when government is paying the bill they get to look into what they are getting charged for. Every personal problem that your shrink helps you with will be in a file somewhere for government to use against you if needed.

Hi Wild Bill,
It’s nice to know someone reads us
As to socialized shrinks, I’d bet that there won’t be enough to go around once the Government takes charge. I’ll ask my partner, the Brit, to drop by and share the situation on this in England.

Hi Wild Bill
Following up from the Grit’s comment, here in the UK as you are aware we have a National Health Service. The problem is that over the past few years the government has converted these to “trust” that are supposed to control their own finances. In their wisdom the government then decided that the best financial administrators would be the doctors and surgeons themselves.
This led to three problems. Firstly, a shortage of medical staff. Secondly, major budget deficits, which led to ward and service closures and, thirdly it present doctors with a care/cost dilema.
Even in accident and emergency it can take several hours to be seen, unless you are an ambulance case. Oh and by the way, our free NHS charge for ambulance use.
The result is an underfunded, poorly managed, ill-equipped apology of a “free for all” NHS. When one looks at the death-rate statistics and hospital super-bugs, it actually is more like a “pot-luck” NHS.

Hey Brit sounds like a hoot. Americans will find out very soon how crappy it is to have the government in charge of your healthcare.
