Florida probes Mark Foley: Foleygate fallout continues

Mark Foley stood by the grave of his father Edward Foley Saturday and in tears said, “I’m sorry for having disappointed you.” You can be sure that no such tearful apology will come from the Main Stream Media (MSM) involving their reporting of Foleygate. Palm Beach Post reports:

As some 40 mourners looked on in the bright, mild air, he apologized personally and publicly for the shame he had brought his family.

Foley faced the world to bury his father Saturday, emerging in full from his refuge in the Arizona mountains, the rehab center where he had been weathering outrage and investigations since resigning in disgrace from Congress nearly two months ago.

When his father was in the ground at Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach, it ended the former congressman’s awkward homecoming.

There had been two days of ceremonies to mark the death of Ed Foley, a visitation Friday and a funeral and burial Saturday. For those two days, the closed curtain on his son’s scandalized life was lifted.

The funeral scene at the church could have been a simple portrait of grief: the flag-draped coffin, the organ requiem, tissue-toting mourners huddled in the pews, the family members in black.

But on the street outside stood a battery of television cameras. (more)

Now that midterm elections are over and the Democrats won the majority in the House–partly due to the misrepresentation by the MSM about facts in the Mark Foley page scandal–the MSM is at it again. The MSM spent the last year schilling nightly for the Democrats , selectively distorting the news to cause as much political damage as possible for Republicans. The elections are over now, but the MSM’s distortions are far from over. As Mark Foley buried his father, the major media continues to bury the facts of what really happened.

On October 4th, 2006 Ms. Underestimated and I revealed the name Jordan Edmund to the world as one of the former congressional pages that had communicated with Mark Foley through instant messages. ABC News changed some of their reporting on the Mark Foley scandal because of our investigative work. Prior to our revelations about Jordan Edmund the MSM turned almost every story about Mark Foley into an underage sex scandal. They pretended emails were instant messages, that a 16 year old from Louisiana was the same as an 18 year old from California, and that Republican House leadership had been aware that Foley had sent sexual messages to an underage boy. The MSM helped advance the theory that all Republicans that had ever been made aware that Foley had sent an email should resign and be investigated endlessly.

Florida has opened a full criminal investigation into sexually explicit Internet messages from disgraced former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, whose resignation amid scandal helped Democrats win control of Congress, officials said on Thursday.

State investigators previously launched a preliminary inquiry into the e-mails and instant messages sent by Foley to underage former congressional aides.

“We are now doing an active criminal investigation,” said Heather Smith, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

She said the upgraded investigation meant “we’ve established there is factual and credible information or evidence that a criminal violation may have been committed.” (more)

Well it is good that an active criminal investigation is underway, after the MSM and Democrats have tried the case in the court of public opinion effectively convicting Mark Foley of pedophilia. I hope the criminal investigators did not develop their case based upon evidence they collected from reporting by the MSM.

The MSM used the underage page distortion as an excuse to shield their sources from public scrutiny. Since they had emails between Foley and a 16 year old page (of a non-sexual nature) they could distort the news they presented so that all communication between Foley and anyone (of a sexual nature) where comparable. Although Foleygate was not the major reason that the Republicans lost the election it played enough of a role to conclude that media bias had an effect on the outcome of the last election.

I tried my best to expose some of the lies about the Foleygate scandal by revealing Jordan Edmund’s involvement in all of this. I had hopes that Republicans would rediscover the backbone that got them into office in the last elections but they did no such thing. Instead of exposing Foleygate for what it was (one scumbag Congressman) Republican politicians missed their chance to go on the offense and prove that they will not roll over and play dead when their enemies try to portray all Republicans as corrupt. Conservatives need real leadership that will stand up to the liberal bias of the MSM. Conservatives need leadership that will challenge false allegations even if the source hides their identity by claiming to be a victim. America’s Victory in the 2008 election depends on real conservative leaders that will fight for the truth. Unless and until Republicans fight back against the lefts attacks they will find it almost impossible to inspire Americans to vote them back into the majority. Until then the Foleygate fallout continues.
