Hot Air Hypocrites Call John Edwards A Silky Pony But Have A Cow At Ann Coulter Remarks
Hot Air throws Ann Coulter under the bus for her faggot comment, even though a few weeks ago they made a video where they portrayed John Edwards as My Little Pony.
Can anyone see a problem here?

No. Coulter’s remark is a derogatory, socially unacceptable slur about someone’s sexuality.
“Silky Pony”, on the other hand, is a light-hearted nickname that largely stems from a 2004 video of Edwards combing his lustrous hair for 30 minutes prior to a tv appearance.
Condolences if you are disappointed that “Silky Pony” was not, in fact, a remark about Edwards’ sexuality.

Well, no, I do not see silky pony as OK but Coulter having to apologize. You see, BOTH of them are “derogatory” comments, but neither of these women are running for president. In fact, BOTH OF THEM make a living based on some amount of shock value, therefore what they say HAS to be shocking. Edwards on the other hand, wants to be President of the U.S., yet defends two women who insult Christianity and worse on their own blogs, because “he takes them at their word”. Therefore, I’ll stick with Ann over silky pony any day.

What Bill from INDC said…

I fully agree with what Bill from INDC said. No, its not hypocritical. Ms. Coulter crossed the line, and was unacceptable. Silky Pony, was a joke regarding the hair combing incident, not his an alleged sexual preference.
I’m sorry if you can’t understand one member of a party condemning another for being out of line, apparently unheard of in the Democratic Party. There has to be a certain level of integrity in politics, despite its reputation. When that line of integrity is crossed, or more trampled on, the action gets condemned. Period.

So showing a man as My Little Pony is not making a statement regarding his possible sexual preference. I’m glad you clarified that. I personally see nothing wrong with either incident.
I suggest Ann Coulter do a My little Pony presentation about Edwards next time, that way no one will label her as a homophobe. Also I have noticed that it is ok to use the word “faggot” as long as you put it in quotation marks, but not ok if you say that you where think about referring to someone as f 2.0 but you don’t want to have to go to rehab. Thanks for clearing that up makes perfect sense now.
Can we call someone an f 2.0? Would that frighten MM’s fragile little children? :ermm:

If you had a brain in your head, you would realize that the nickname “silky pony” (which originated on Laura Ingraham’s radio show) and the White House staffers’ nick of “The Breck Girl” are targeting Edwards’ mid-’70s male model big hair look, NOT his sexuality.
I’m a man, I am NOT a homosexual, and I know that lithe blondes with long legs exude power over heterosexual men. However, I am proud to say that unlike some of you, Ann’s pulchritude doesn’t have the effect of melting my stones so that I am left powerless to muster the words “She’s gone too far.”
Make peace with it, boys — you’ll never have a crack at her. So quit acting like you don’t want to be on record as pissing her off, and tell the truth.

L. N. Smithee, that’s fresh, I don’t want to piss off Ann because I want to sleep with her? I better tell my wife that one so she can laugh her ass off. Once again an idiot trying to float the ignorant notion that Silky Pony and Breck Girl are only about his hair and in no way challenge the masculinity of John Edwards. Frankly I think Edwards is a little fruity (yes I am questioning his masculinity). Have the balls to say what you mean and not twist statements to give yourself wiggle room so you can be on both sides of the fence.

Wow, Bill, I can’t believe I missed all this writhing, backpeddaling, limp-wristed, slack-jawed pussitude. Bill from INDC: Silky Pony is every bit as derogatory and means THE EXACT SAME THING as calling him a “faggot” it just didn’t use the word that the Thought Police have deemed inappropriate for use.
American Pundit: Sorry, I refuse to sacrifice anyone on the grounds of trying to gain some modicum of respect from a group of people that hate me no matter what I do. You, Michelle Malkin, and the rest like you are John McCain-esque sell outs.
IN Smithee: If you had the sense God gave a sack of broken hammers you’d realize that Coulter’s faggot comment was aimed at you and people like you more than it was at Edwards.
Way to advance the Soviet ideal of political correctness. That’s very totalitarian of you.

No, it does not. The fact that you don’t understand the difference says a lot about you.
Bonus Newsflash: it is not 1950.

Question: if someone called John Edwards a “wuss,” a “weenie,” or a “wimp,” would that mean the same thing to you as labeling him a “man who has sex with other men?”
Furthermore, would it be the same as labeling him a homosexual with what 99% of people in polite society consider a mean slur?
You folks are ridiculous. There’s a war going on, politics set the policy, and some silly woman just associated GOP presidential candidates with an anti-gay slur at a serious political conference. This gives the political opponents of those candidates a little bit of ammunition to use as both sides woo politically disinclined moderates.
Most Americans do not worship Ann Coulter like an ideological prophet and don’t like politicians associated with bombthrowers who slur entire groups of people. Until you understand this fact, you will be a liability to the very causes you claim to support.

What’s wrong with the man having nice, fancy, big hair? What’s wrong with being a wuss, weeney, or a wimp? What’s wrong with being effeminate? Why are any of them insults?
Or is this more “nuance”? You can call into question a man’s man-hood as long as you don’t say the double-plus-ungood words fag, faggot, or queer, is that right? So the intent is not the problem, just the language? So now, using a word deemed double-plus-ungood is wrong, and people should go to rehab when they use double-plus-ungood words? Thanks for proving Ann’s point.

The Silky Pony schtick was started by Laura Ingraham and was an attack on Edwards masculinity and sexuality. Not much different than calling the man faggot. More like Pretty Pink Faggot. lol!
March 5th, 2007 at 4:02 pmWild Bill
Well I’m not saying MM invented the Silky Pony shtick she just made a video of it. She hasn’t had an original idea in a while.
March 5th, 2007 at 4:14 pmsam
I find it bizarre that MM is going after Coulter considering the number of times MM has gotten her own tit in the wringer. When it happens again, and it will, I won’t be defending her.

Well I’m not saying MM invented the Silky Pony shtick she just made a video of it.
My point was that it was especially hypocritical for Ingrahm to criticize Coulter.
