When A and B stop working, it’s time for C.
It’s a depressing time in this nation and particularly so for Conservatives. The Republican Party has lost it’s soul. These days it’s hard to tell where they end and the Democrats start. I think we’re all in agreement that Bush is no Conservative and anymore outside of the war it’s getting hard to classify him as a Republican. Let’s face it, GW has been the greatest thing to happen to the Democrat agenda since LBJ. Prescription Drug Coverage (Socialized Medicine), the Ted Kennedy Education Bill aka No Child Left Behind (massive expansion of federal control) and multiple free trade agreements (destruction of American industry) all passed not just under George Bush but under our so called Republican Congress! Is this what we spent the last 40 years working towards?? Is this what we took back all 3 branches of government to achieve??
We got the tax cuts through, that’s great. But again with all 3 branches we failed to make them permanent and now they WILL sunset under the democrats. Taxes will be raised and we’re going to head right back into that good ol Jimmy Carter economy again. The borders are wide open, cultural rot is out of control, government spending has approached levels that would make FDR blush, Communism is on the rise and our enemies laugh at us knowing we are a paper tiger.
I was a Republican practically my entire life. I kid you not my earliest memory in life is having just gone to the polls with my mom and asking her if she voted for Reagan. In the 5th grade I was the only kid in school wearing a political campaign button and I wore that “Bush/Quayle ‘88″ button with pride. But in 1998 I left the Republican party after they used Newt as a sacrificial lamb for the left. The party had no leadership and it was evident. Even though I’d left the party and registered as an Independent I still largely supported Republican candidates in elections. Problem is nearly 10 years later the party is still leaderless and becoming bluer by the day. I’m practically ready to say to hell with the next election because I won’t vote for the democrat senator from Arizona, not even to beat Hillary.
Now the 3rd party thing has been traditionally considered a waste of a vote. Not that the 3rds have really had anything worth voting for. The Reform party has become an absolute joke and not even Libertarians know what it is Libertarians stand for. Personally I don’t think they stand for a hell of allot. But something happened this last election (outside of the Republicans getting their rears handed to them), something that could herald the dawn of a new hope. A man named Rick Jore was elected to the Montana State House and he’s been causing a stir ever since. You see Mr. Jore is the first person to be elected to a state office from a new body called the Constitution Party.
The underlying premise of the Constitution Party is simple, if you can’t find authorization for it in the Constitution then you can’t do it. The main reason Rick is currently causing such controversy is that the Republican controlled House made him chairmen of the House Education Committee. One of the goals of the CP is the disbandment of that Carter money pit boondoggle the Department of Education and to return education to the states. He opposes all federal funding for education and supports the use of vouchers to give parents choice. I’m for both of those ideas and if it were up to me I’d have the NEA disbanded and it’s leadership charged under the RICO Statutes.
The CP is in alignment with almost every conservative issue you can think of although they are also heavily Christian and not afraid to say so. This might be a problem for some but myself being a Reagan Conservative I don’t see it as a negative. Here are some of their other beliefs.
Taxes: The CP seek to end the collection of direct Federal personal income taxes and work to abolish the IRS. Furthermore they also support ratification of the Liberty Amendment which would repeal the Sixteenth Amendment, and provide that “Congress shall not levy taxes on personal incomes, estates, and/or gifts.”
Foreign Policy: Steadfastly oppose American participation in any form of world government organization, including any world court under United Nations auspices. Terminate US membership in the UN, forbid US participation in UN missions and ban UN activities and presence on US territory.
Wage and Price Control: We deny that civil government has the authority to set wages and prices; so doing is inconsistent with principles of individual liberty and the free market.
Seven Principles of the Constitution Party are:
1. Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
2. Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;
3. Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
4. Property: Each individual’s right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
5. Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers;
6. States’ Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government is reserved for the state and local jurisdictions;
7. American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.
Just read though their platform under party info, it reads like everything we’ve been longing for all these years. I’m seriously considering changing my registration to Constitution Party and joining the CP Veteran’s Coalition. After all the great Ronaldus Magnus changed his affiliation when he saw that the party he was part of no longer represented what was best for America. To paraphrase that great man: I didn’t leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left me.

No he didn’t. I know how to do it in LiveJournal code, but somehow I’m guessing that won’t work in WordPress world.
Yesh, I’m 0-2 in not ticking you off. But hey, if I got your creative juices flowing and set off a grade A rant than it’s not all bad right? I’ll try to respond to the points in your post tommorow as I just popped a movie in and typing the original post took most of my rants juices away.
While the conflict is going on though we can’t lose sight of what’s really important in a situation like this, capitalism. This Fox vs Fox battle royale will of course need to be on pay-per-view.

Blogger,
I am a member of the CP. Trust me,you aren’t alone. Alot of us are disgruntled Republicans who hate the present Country-club Conservative control of the party.
